"Fullmetal Alchemist: The Conqueror of Shambala" is a fine piece of animation, richly coloured and sumptuously animated - but, contrary to other reviews I have seen, I wonder if this film would be entirely comprehensible to someone not familiar with the original series. Indeed, the film might have a few mildly confusing moments for those who are familiar with the original series. All the same, it is well worth bearing with. It's touching/moving and, for those who like strange, it is definitely off-the-charts on the odd-o-meter. As someone else observed elswhere, this film explores some pretty deep philosophical issues and the very subject matter might put one in the mind of the great French sci fi writer Gerard Klein. Some moments in this film are really sit-back-and-gawk. Well worth your time, by my reckoning...Greg Cameron, Surrey, B.C., Canada
